The Nervous System and your health
As we found out on our Chiropractic and You page, our body is a self-healing, self-regulating organism. The Nervous System is the master control system of our entire body. It includes our brain which is found in the skull, the spinal cord which extends from the base of the brain down into the spine as well as 31 pairs of spinal nerves which extend from the spinal cord out through the spaces between the vertebrae to every corner of our body.
It controls either directly or indirectly every cell and every function of our body - without exception! Including our ability to self-heal and self-regulate.
The Nervous System is surrounded and protected by the skull, the spine which consists of 24 moveable vertebrae, and the pelvis. When the skull, spine and pelvis are in their normal position and functioning properly, they protect the nerve pathways and the Nervous System can function properly resulting in our good health and human performance.
However, when the skull, spine and/or pelvis become misaligned (or subluxated) the Nervous System is interfered with in its function and we can no longer properly self-heal or self-regulate which may result in reduced health and reduced human performance.
Our job as Chiropractors is to find out if the spine is subluxated and if the Nervous System is being interfered with in its function. We serve you by adjusting the subluxation allowing the Nervous System to start functioning properly which in turn allows you to again properly self-heal and self-regulate. The inevitable result is improved health and full expression of your human potential.
